Wine of the Week: Konzelmann Sparkling Rosé

While the fall season is my favourite, I’m not giving up on summer just yet! I think that summer 2021 deserves one last celebration. And there is no better way to celebrate than with a bottle of pink bubbly! I tried the Konzelmann Sparkling Rosé last month and it is the perfect wine to cheers farewell to summer. It’s bursting with big bubbles filled with juicy flavours of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. This wine is made using the charmed method from 100% VQA Ontario grapes from the beautiful lakefront Konzelmann vineyards. The Konzelmann Sparkling Rosé is the prettiest pink salmon colour and, trust me, is super easy drinking! Enjoy outside in the sun with friends alongside your favourite summer appetizers. You can find the Konzelmann Sparkling Rosé through the Konzelmann online store on sale right now for only $17.95. If you happen to order a few bottles, this wine can also be enjoyed well into autumn. Wine of the Week: Huff 2019 Getaway Rosé

This time of year I’m usually lounging on a beach somewhere warm. But I think it’s safe to say that no one will be vacationing this winter. So lets bring the getaway to us! Throw your feet up, pump the heat, put on some relaxing music and grab a bottle of the Huff Getaway Rosé. Take a sip and be whisked away to your favourite warm getaway destination. I will personally be taking myself back to Rosé filled beach days in Jamaica! The Huff Getaway Rosé is the perfect wine to enjoy with a deep breath and relaxation. This VQA Ontario Rosé is very easy-drinking with tart flavours of strawberry, raspberry and cranberry. It’s high acidity makes it so easy to pair with all your favourite vacation foods like grilled seafood, tacos and charcuterie boards. The Huff Getaway Rosé is available through the winery’s online store or the LCBO for $20.00.

Wine of the Week: Coffin Ridge Back from the Dead Red

The Coffin Ridge Back From the Dead Red is my go-to Halloween wine. And it’s likely soon to be yours too! Located in northern Ontario’s Grey County, Coffin Ridge Winery specializes in bringing back to life grapes suited to a cool climate geography. Like the Maréchel Foch and Baco Noir grapes in their devilishly delicious Back From the Dead Red. Flavours of dark berries, spices and earth will come to life as you sip on this full-bodied wine. Pair Back from the Dead Red with all your favourite cold weather dishes like pot roasts, beef wellington and mushroom stew. Get your paws on a bottle of the Coffin Ridge Back from the Dead Red at the LCBO or the winery online shop for $19.95. I guarantee you a hell of a ghoul time!

Wine of the Week: Sugarbush Gamay

I am always on the hunt for food friendly red wines. Especially in these days of isolation – I don’t want to open a bottle for it to only pair well with one dinner that week. Light bodied reds tend to be the most versatile and the Sugarbush Vineyards Gamay is no exception! As the weather (hopefully) starts to warm up here in Ontario, it’s also a great red to serve slightly chilled.  The Sugarbush Gamay is light-bodied with bright flavours of raspberry, cranberry and cherry. It’s lively acidity makes this Gamay perfect for food pairing. Enjoy with a wide range of foods from pizza and pasta, to barbequed meats and vegetables, to sandwiches and charcuterie. Very versatile! You can find the Sugarbush Gamay at the LCBO for $19.00. Sugarbush Vineyards is also offering curbside pickup and local delivery – check out their Instagram account for up date delivery information.

Wine of the Week: Traynor Sauvignon Blanc

The Traynor Sauvignon Blanc is one of the first bottles of wine I purchased from Prince Edward County when I visited several years ago. I picked up a bottle of the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc last month, and remembered just how delicious it is. Needless to say, the Traynor Sauvignon Blanc has been on my weekly wine rotation since! If you’re familiar with New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, that’s exactly what this wine reminds me of. Aromas of fresh cut grass lead into lots of fresh fruit flavours like grapefruit, gooseberry and guava. It has a lemony crisp acidity that makes this wine a bit zesty, in a good way! Apart from it’s delicious taste, another reason the Traynor Sauvignon Blanc has been on my weekly wine rotation is because it pairs perfectly with a wide variety of foods. So far I’ve had it with lemon-dill chicken, scallops and shrimp. But it will also work nicely with green salads, goat cheese and light pastas. You can purchase the Traynor Sauvignon Blanc through the winery’s online shop for $20.00. And the Traynor Family Vineyard has one of the best shipping deals I’ve seen – free shipping in Ontario with the purchase of just three bottles of wine.
